Golf in the South African Wild

The famous Kruger National Park, one of Africa’s largest game reserves, stretches along the entire length of the Hans Merensky Hotel & Spa’s eastern boundary.  Greet the African dawn on the manicured fairways of the challenging 18 hole, par 72 championship golf course, where crocodile and hippo add spice to the normal “hazards” of a good game of golf.  The legendary Bob Grimsdell designed this unique course, which extends over a vast area of indigenous bush, interspersed with tranquil pools and velvet greens.

The main hotel itself with its large trees, water features and beautifully landscaped gardens, as well as the cool ambience of the traditional thatch, provides an oasis of leisure and elegance, the ultimate African dream.  The Golf Clubhouse raised to overlook the 9th and 18th holes offers a view unsurpassed.  Sitting on the patio having a chilled refreshment is the perfect way to relax after an exciting day on the golf course.  Air-conditioned and secluded en suite accommodation is offered in thatched chalets situated along the golf course.  Awake to the sounds of birds and watch as a herd of impala graze lazily at your doorstep.  Each chalet is a short walk from the golf clubhouse.  In addition, air-conditioned en suite hotel rooms overlooking the hotel swimming pool and pool bar offer accommodation closer to the main hotel.

Dine in the Leadwood restaurant, have a BBQ feast in the Lapa or enjoy the sumptuous fare in the Golf Clubhouse.  You may hear stories of how the course was closed for a few hours that morning so that the rangers could chase off Elephant and Buffalo.  You may also catch a glimpse of Hyena or lions in the dark shadows of the night.  Swimming, gymnasium, squash, tennis and conference facilities add to the final compliment. Hans Merensky Hotel & Spa have advised us of their amazing Autumn / Winter Accommodation Promotion, the rates they are offering Road Travel are unbeatable value for money, so contact us to find out more.
