The Best Ten Day South African Spa Safari -or- “Spafari”

Day 1
On arrival at Cape Town International Airport you will be met and transferred to your hotel.  At a place where the earth, sea and sky meet, life begins.  Here lies the luxurious Twelve Apostles, poised on the Atlantic edge and flanked by the majestic Table Mountain and her Twelve Apostles.  The Twelve Apostles prides itself on exceptional hospitality coupled with a relaxing and splendid infrastructure, making an unforgettable experience as unique as its haven-like setting.  Tonight you can relax and unwind at the spa or just have an early night after your flight.

Day 2 & 3
The Spa at the Twelve Apostles has a total of seven treatment rooms – one of these rooms is dedicated to Hydrotherapy and two are inter-leading allowing for couples to experience treatments together.  The rooms have state-of-the-art equipment including heated massage beds as well as a room dedicated to tanning treatments.  The very popular line of Clarins products are used as well as indigenous plant extract products.  Your hotel is ideally situated close to Camps Bay and Hout Bay, perfect for a visit to Table Mountain or a Cape Peninsula tour.

Day 4
This morning after a leisurely breakfast you will be met and transferred to the Grande Roche, situated on the site of the old De Nieuwe Plantatie in the Drakenstein valley of Paarl, South Africa.  Its heritage dates back to 1717 when a grant of land was given to Hermanus Bosman.  Today Grande Roche is a celebrated international hotel, famous for its exquisite location in the heart of the beautiful Cape Winelands as well as for its luxurious, cosmopolitan accommodation, award-winning cuisine and matchless service and hospitality.

Day 5
Enjoy today by either playing a round of golf at a nearby golf course, cycling through the beautiful vineyards, or indulge yourself with the splendid facilities at the Health Centre.  The Grande Roche Health Centre is the perfect place for indulgent pampering!  The peaceful setting and beautiful surroundings ensure that you are able to relax, de-stress and experience a transcendent feeling of well-being.  The Health Care Centre offers guests gym and massage facilities as well as an outdoor heated swimming pool, sauna and steam room.  You may also decide to visit Franschhoek or Stellenbosch and stop at a few wine estates for some wine tasting.

Day 6
This morning, after a leisurely breakfast, you will be met at your hotel and transferred to Cape Town International Airport for your flight to Johannesburg.  Upon arrival in Johannesburg, you will be transferred to the Mount Grace Country House and Spa, which is only an hour’s drive from Johannesburg, set in the Magaliesberg Mountains on 10 acres of exquisite gardens.  Indigenous and colorful English country gardens are a feature of this thatch and stone retreat.  The Stoep Restaurant breathes romance, elegance and consummate care in its every detail.  The Stoep was created to complement the hotel’s original restaurant, Copperfield Grill, which continues to serve its generous, country style buffets.

Day 7
Today is at leisure to enjoy the many optional activities at the hotel such as trout fishing or a picnic in the countryside, or you may wish to make use of the spa facilities.  The Spa at Mount Grace is a thatch-roofed, natural stone complex, and has been built away from the main hotel in Mountain Village to ensure peace and tranquillity.  Surrounded by Mount Grace’s magnificent gardens and natural bush, this is truly a destination spa experience.  Take time to enjoy the healing and relaxing benefits of water therapy in the outdoor Hydrotherapy Spa Garden, featuring a heated Jacuzzi pool, a refreshing waterfall and the Elixir Liquid Sound Flotation Pool designed for floating.  A range of luxurious health and spa treatments, including hydrotherapy, massage, body wraps, and skin care treatments are available.

Day 8
After breakfast, you will be met and transferred to Johannesburg International Airport for your flight to Kruger-Mpumalanga Airport where you will be transferred to Singita in Sabi Sands.  Singita, meaning ‘the Miracle’ in the local Shangaan language – is exquisite luxury, rare solitude and perfect tranquillity.  Sabi lies adjacent to the Kruger National Park, though no fences exist between the two, allowing the animals free roam across the wild expanses.  The nocturnal safaris open up a totally new world and a powerful spotlight illuminates the shy and sometimes rare wildlife.  On night safaris, when the heat of the day has subsided, the predators such as Lion, Leopard, Hyena, Black Backed Jackal and the Owls start their hunting.  Drinks are served in the bush at sunset as a gentle introduction to the nocturnal bush.

Day 9
This is Africa’s big game terrain, so your days and early nights at Singita will blissfully revolve around spectacular game viewing drives in Land Rovers.  Only six people are permitted per vehicle on the game drives, leaving space for photographic and binocular equipment.  Singita Bush Spa is designed to enhance the Singita guest experience even further, the world class Singita Bush Spa ensures that guests are given the best of everything to make their stay truly unforgettable.  Three full time beauty therapists pamper guests with body treatments of their choice either in their rooms or in the Bush Spa.  From ancient Thai massage, hot stone therapy, African head massage and reflexology to spectacular outdoor mineral salt scrubs and seaweed wraps.  For the truly adventurous, try the Big Five treatment, a two hour pamper session with two therapists working simultaneously on one guest.

Day 10
One more exciting game drive and bush breakfast before you leave the sights and sounds of the African bush.  You will be met at your lodge and transferred to Kruger-Mpumalanga Airport for your flight to Johannesburg and international homebound connection.  To experience this trip first hand, please do get in touch with us, via email, twitter, facebook, our website, skype, by golly – even by fax if you want 😉
