Rock Lodge suite
Ulusaba is one of several private reserves in the Sabi Sand Nature Reserve: a private 64,000-hectare wilderness that shares its eastern border with the Kruger National Park.  With 10,000 acres of traversing land and fenceless boundaries with the surrounding reserves, Ulusaba is an excellent wildlife destination.  Top that with larger-than-life luxury at either of the lodges and you’ve got the classic African luxury safari.

Ulusaba, meaning ‘Place of Little Fear‘ strikes a good balance between nature and nurture – as well as being an excellent place to observe the ‘Big Five‘, it is also an ideal place to kick back and unwind.  Ulusaba re-defines the rules of a safari lodge and taken a step away from the traditional colonial style by offering swimming pools, gymnasiums, a wine cellar, Aroma Boma spas with panoramic views and tennis courts.  With all of these facilities, you really need to plan your days so you can enjoy safari walks, moon-lit bush dinners and of course, the twice-daily game drives.

Safari Lodge dining room
Safari Lodge is built along the banks of the dry Mabrak riverbed, where guests will love the sense of adventure as they cross the swing bridges between the tree house rooms while elephants, bushbuck, lion and other local wildlife pass by.  Children of any age are welcome at the Rock Lodge but must be 12 or above to stay at the Safari Lodge. Younger pride members of the family can visit the Cub’s Club, which runs a fun daily program of activities aiming to both entertain and educate cubs about their surroundings.

As Ulusaba is a Private Game Reserve the service, facilities and suites are all excellent.

Ulusaba offers game drives in open 4×4 game viewing safari vehicles twice a day as well as nature walks.  These activities are included in your special luxury safari accommodation rates offered by Road Travel Africa.  A safari in South Africa is a once in a lifetime experience; at Ulusaba they understand this and aim to make your African adventure as special, fulfilling and memorable as possible.  The excellent game viewing experience is complimented by other activities such as stargazing, bird watching and moonlit bush dinners or sundowners.

wellness treatment
The daily bush walk usually commences after breakfast.  This is a fascinating activity as it allows you to observe the smaller animals that you would usually not see while out on drive.  The knowledgeable ranger and tracker will enthrall you with stories about the medicinal properties of plants, local beliefs regarding the wildlife and fascinating facts regarding the animals.  As if some of the finest game viewing, cuisine and views in Africa weren’t already enough, not to mention luxurious rooms and staff that make you feel so at home, Ulusaba also has a boutique spa at both Rock Lodge and Safari Lodge.  The Aroma Boma Virgin Touch Salon offers a fabulous range of treatments to help you relax and unwind after the excitement of game drive.
