True Luxury meets the Wild in the Heart of Africa’s finest Bushveld

Royal Malewane is one of Africa’s most luxurious wildlife lodges, renowned for providing the pinnacle of luxury Big-5 game viewing.  Set amongst a canopy of indigenous acacia and lantern bush trees, the central library, shop and dining area, airy and simply elegant, is the hub of linked walkways that thread to the eight luxury suites, each with its own rich wooden deck, rim-flow pool and thatched gazebo.

For the ultimate in luxury, there are also the Royal and Malewane Suites, which comfortably accommodate up to four guests each, with the complimentary services of a butler, private chef and up to four complimentary massages.

Completely surrounded by the untamed African bush, the Waters of Royal Malewane Bush Spa is the perfect refuge for guests seeking relaxation or rejuvenation.  This sanctuary for the senses offers guests an indoor and outdoor treatment area, gym, double treatment rooms with spa baths and a Vichy shower, four casitas for post treatment relaxation and a 25m heated lap pool.  Treatments are inspired by African Rituals and indigenous oils and traditional ingredients provide a sensory experience with an unforgettable African touch.  The treatments may be enjoyed in the spa, in the spectacular open-air sala or in the complete privacy of the guest’s suite.

In the evenings at Royal Malewane, the renowned chef serves sumptuous dinners in different outdoor locations.  Guests can be assured of a variety of gourmet delights, for instance; venison roasts slowly basted in the huge open fireplace of the semi-sheltered dining area.  There is also the leisurely enjoyment of seven courses served with starched white napery, silver cutlery and crystal glasses.  The pure luxury and elegance of this dinner creates an awesome contrast to the rustic of the surrounding African bush and makes the “silver and crystal” evening unforgettable.  A Boma dinner overlooks the water hole, while local singers and dancers entertain and guests enjoy the sumptuous traditional dishes around the fires and under the open African sky.

Imagine the surprise, when after your evening game drive you arrive at a clearing in the bush to a magnificent Bedouin tent bedecked with Moroccan lanterns and Persian cushions.  The aromas of light curries cooked under the stars greet you.  With the mesh of trees outlined against the lanterns, the air is thick with sounds of the wildlife, but still with a sense of quiet, which makes you feel as if time is standing still.  Truly magnificent and unforgettable!  Give us a call, drop us a mail, send us a tweet, a facebook message, skype call or even write us a fax, and Road Travel Africa will send you all the necessary information and give you all the assistance to book your magic stay at Royal Malewane.

Jock Safari Lodge in the Kruger National Park

Private Daybed
Before the turn of the century, the lure of gold brought men from all over the world to South Africa.  Sir Percy Fitzpatrick, author of the animal classic, Jock of the Bushveld was one of these.  Whilst here, they passed through some of Africa’s most scenic untamed wilderness.  It is in this area that Jock Safari Lodge is based with the southern boundary being the old wagon route from Delgoa Bay into the gold fields of the interior.

Kruger National Park concession
Situated in the southern area of the Kruger National Park at the confluence of the Mitomeni and Biyamiti rivers, the camp offers stunning views with the pool literally on the confluence.  Today the wilderness experience on offer is unchanged from these earlier times.  It is in an area noted for its diversity in game, particularly the Big Five.  Jock Safari Lodge incorporates the romance and elegance of the past colonial era, and reflects in its unique style the indigenous Zulu and Swazi cultures.

Walking with Elephant
Friendly and professional staff will cater for all guests requirements from specialized game drives or game walks – with every sound, scent, footprint or broken blade of grass – as sign waiting to be interpreted and understood.  Jock Safari Lodge offer African cuisine that incorporates an abundance of flavors accumulated on the routes followed by Sir Percy Fitzpatrick.  The chef and his dedicated team conjure up dishes inspired by this unique location, as well as all of the influences that have passed through it at one time or another.  From the primal flavors of wild game and local herbs picked from the surrounding bushveld to the spicy tastes of visiting Arab traders, and traditional dishes introduced by European gold miners – guests can take their taste buds on a true African safari.  The cuisine is presented in a variety of locations.  From the elegant dining room, to private dining in your suite or to a dining adventure under the panorama of the African night.

Game Drive Stop
The lodge has exclusive traversing rights in an area that is regarded as one of the best in the Kruger for its “Big Five” sightings.  Game drives in open landrovers, with a professional team of game rangers and trackers, offer guests the thrill of close encounters with Africa’s Big Five.  Walking safaris, birding safaris and guided historical tours will take you along the paths of legend and mystery.

Pilgrim’s Rest, named after the quaint historical mining town featured so prominently in “Jock of the Bushveld” and still in existence today, was a place to rest, rejuvenate and restock.  So too is the Pilgrim’s Rest Spa at Jock that overlooks the haven of a serenity garden.  The spa is fully equipped with therapy and relaxation rooms, hydrotherapy bath, steam room and sauna.  Therapies are also available in the relaxed atmosphere of one’s own room.  At “Pilgrim’s Rest” the need for both physical and psychological wellbeing is understood.  Each treatment has been developed to revive, rejuvenate and restore the skin together with rebalancing mind, body and spirit.  Highly qualified therapists will design a treatment program to ensure deep relaxation and induce inner and outer harmony.

Great Kruger Park Bush Special

Escape to the South African Bush with Road Travel. Stay for 3 Nights and Pay for Only 2. This wonderful offer is valid from 1 – 15 December 2011 and 9 – 31 January 2012 at Idube and Lukimbi.  Idube is a safari lodge situated
in the Sabi Sand Game Reserve, in the heart of South Africa’s premier wildlife conservation area of the Greater Kruger Park. Game, including the Big 5, is viewed really close by from open Landrovers, or spotted on guided walks.  All the experienced rangers and trackers are trained to give guests the best possible wildlife experience.

The lodge has ten comfortable chalets, set amongst green lawns and shady trees. In between drives, guests can enjoy the pool and bird watch, or relax on their private decks and watch the warthogs and the nyala families on the lawn.  The lodge is set in an indigenous garden of tall trees and cool, green lawns watered only with recycled water.  Originally designed to blend into the bush with rough, natural coloured bricks, plastered walls round the outside showers have been added creating a pleasing contrast.  Tiled roofs create a clean, cool interior.  The thatched bar and entertainment areas have an immediate appeal and are the focal areas for guests to gather.  The open lounge is a great place to relax, whilst waiting to see what animals will come wandering in front of the lodge.

The swimming pool is well situated for both bird watching and game viewing, whilst cooling off with a refreshing drink in hand.  Idube happily hosts families of nyala and warthogs, which are seen almost daily around the entire lodge area.  Many guests prefer just to sit on their private deck enjoying the quiet and watching squirrels, monkeys or the many other creatures that have made Idube their home.

Lukimbi Safari Lodge is a stunning luxury safari lodge situated in the easily accessible southern portion of the Kruger National Park. Kruger is home to the Big Five and a wide variety of other animals and birds, which roam freely in their natural habitat.  Game drives with informative Rangers, are done on private roads in open Landrovers. Alternatively, guests can take guided walks or relax in the magnificent lodge, it all happens on over 37,000 acres (15,000 hectares) of exclusive use prime game and wilderness area.

Sixteen spacious suites combine luxury and modern African decor with private decks and river views.  The Giant Eagle Owl and King Cheetah suites each include a private pool and second bathroom.

Game Drives go out in the early morning and late afternoons in open Landrovers.  The Guides love to share their extensive knowledge, and work closely with our Shangaan trackers to get the best sightings.  There is great communication between the two and the Trackers are encouraged to share their knowledge of local uses of herbs and trees, animals and birds.  You can follow the Big 5 off road in careful, controlled circumstances, this is an experience few guests would like to miss.  Guests are able to get really close to the animals and experience truly fantastic photographic opportunities.  Early mornings start off a little cold, but a stop is made later for warming drinks, or cold ones, if preferred.  A highlight of late afternoon drives is the time spent at sundowner time.  This is the moment to appreciate the magnificence of an African sunset, whilst sipping sundowner drinks.

Lukimbi is the place to enjoy wonderful walks, because it is so large and unspoiled.  It is quite a different experience to see animals on foot and always very exciting.  The walks offer the opportunity to look at and learn about the smaller things and just to appreciate the special smell of the African bush, listening to the calls of the many species of birds.  Walks are generally taken after breakfast and guests are always accompanied by an armed Ranger.  Contact us at Road Travel today to book your Great Bush Special.
